So, our trip to Cancun was a week long. In order to accommodate a week of being out in the sunshine we packed a lot of sunscreen and aloe vera. Now, while these were shared evenly among all four of us, the main concern I had was for me. If you say "sunshine" Turtle will go a shade darker and Marshmallow will turn two shades darker. And Daddy will probably go darker as well. But me, I just get pinker and pinker, unless I'm very careful. Here are some of the activities we sun-screened up for!
There were 4 different pools to play in. We were in the "kiddie pool" in the last post. This is the pool with the "in pool bar" where they served all you can drink drinks (of the alcoholic and non-alcholic variety.) My kids and I enjoyed a variety of virgin drinks, my favorite being the pina colada, Turtle's favorite was the Strawberry Daiquiri, and Marshmallow's favorite was the Miami Vice - Pina Colada and Strawberry Daiquiri together. They also both liked the "Spiderman".
Here we have the pool with the chairs. It had a cool swimming hole inside the chairs that had a hollow/tunnel sound if you stood in the right place.
And the pool closest to our room was the "Premium Pool" that if it had been the busy season may have been off limits to us. But no one ever kicked us out, so we enjoyed swimming there too. However, we don't have a good picture of that one.
We spent so much time in the pool that Turtle became a "proficient" snorkeler - at least that's what he thinks. Marshmallow became quite comfortable swimming around on her own with her life vest on.
There was a giant chess board at the resort that the kids kept wanting to play with, but every time we were near it, other kids were playing with it. They finally had some turns, but usually other, bigger kids would come and join them. It frustrated Marshmallow because she got left out (although she enjoyed playing with the previously killed pieces - especially the knights) and it frustrated Turtle because he learned really quickly that he didn't know how to play. But we did manage to get some pictures of them enjoying their time with the chess pieces.
The beach, although pretty, was not as enjoyable as we thought it would be. There was NO marine life anywhere near us the entire time, so Marshmallow decided to create some.
Sadly, we never saw them hatch. Daddy and Turtle kept digging, perhaps in hopes of finding some cool, tropical life forms. But this is all they found...
Swimming in the ocean was fun and the view was nice.
And of course, what trip to Cancun would be complete without feeding the local monkeys some banana?
Oh, wait! We didn't see any monkeys! Just Iguanas. Oh well, I guess the Iguana will have to eat the banana...
